PornHub Statistics Tell A Lot About Peoples’ Porn Habits

At the beginning of the year, PornHub has released the statistics it has been gathering throughout 2016. If you have not heard about PornHub (since you have presumably been living under a rock for the past couple of years), you can read our review of it right here. But, in short, as we all know (or should know), PornHub is the biggest completely free porn tube website. Since it has a lot of traffic, its annual reports are usually quite interesting to read and they show what people from around the world prefer. The latest is not any different than the previous ones.

Let us take a look at some raw numbers first. As it turns out, PornHub had 23 billion (yup, with a lot of zeroes) visits in 2016. That’s 64 million visits per day or 2.6 million visits per hour. That is A LOT. Or, if you would like to sum that up in hours, 4.5 billion of hours of porn were watched on this site. Amazing, right? Well, you would be surprised which countries are on the top ten list of page views. The US is, understandably, in the first place, followed by Iceland. Yup, people from Iceland (as well as Sweden and Norway, which are placed 9th and 7th on that list respectively) apparently love them some free porn. Naturally, most of the traffic came from the US, as well as the UK and Canada. But, let us put aside these numbers for a moment in favor of something juicier.

So, what do we actually like when it comes to porn? According to the PornHub annual statistics, the most-searched term for 2016 was ‘lesbian’. Followed closely by ‘step mom’ and ‘MILF’. What can we conclude from this? Well, apparently we like us some mature lesbian videos or stepmom porn videos. Of course, I am just kidding. There are some terms on here that would surprise many, like the term ‘overwatch’ (there is an online FPS game titled Overwatch for those who do not know). So, our inner geeks were at work last year apparently, at least when it comes to porn. While search popularity of certain terms varies all over the world and provides some expected results (like the term ‘hentai’ being exceptionally popular in Japan, the Philippines and China, for example), there are some surprises here too. For example, the term ‘cartoon’ has gained popularity, especially in the West.

Interestingly enough, when you compare from which country people stayed the longest on the website, you will find that the Philippines holds the first place, followed closely by South Africa. On the other side of that spectrum, people from Cuba spent the shortest time on PornHub. There are no surprises when it comes to the popularity of pornstars, with Lisa Ann holding the first place and Mia Khalifa being in the second. Right behind Mia, you will find Kim Kardashian. Oh, and, also, we apparently like to watch porn at midnight. Like we needed statistics to tell us that.
